Zoë is the head of equality, diversity and inclusion at Newcastle University having previously been the head of inclusion at Newcastle United Football Club. Previous to this Zoë was a Police Officer for over 16 years serving with Northumbria Police progressing to inspector. In that role in her latter years, she led on creating a more representative workforce as well changing culture to be more inclusive to increase retention and progression for all. Whilst in the police, Zoë was the first female Chair of their ethnic minority network and later was voted nationally to become the general secretary of the National Black Police Association.
She has dedicated her career to creating and developing inclusive, representative, and supportive spaces in all the organisations that she has been a part of. Zoë is also director/trustee and chair of the inclusion advisory group at Northumberland Football Association.
Zoë believes that ensuring equality of opportunity, inclusion of all and encouraging diversity to thrive is not only the right thing to do, but also the smart thing to do, as they enhance innovation, performance, social impact and people’s well-being.
