In the communities: February 2024

Matt Roberts

Matt Roberts, PR and media advisor

February has come and gone, bringing with it some unpredictable weather but also brighter nights.

Across the country, our customers and colleagues have been having a great time getting out and enjoying new experiences.

Busy customer assessors in Basingstoke

Our incredible South West viewpoint team were out and about again in February, this time in Basingstoke.

A great day had by all, our customers were listened too, there was a chance to quiz colleagues from our customer service centre who had come alone and there was even time to celebrate a birthday!

Communication, communication, communication!

There was more collaboration with customers on the go in Cumbria in February, too, as Herman from our comms team was out and about catching up with customers.

One of those friendly faces, Mike, shared with us the importance of our written communications.

We’re always happy to hear from our customers and learn what works best for them.

Testing out the trains

In Yorkshire, one of our customers was supported to go on his first train experience – a really memorable and amazing memory!

After his day out, the customer had the biggest smile on his face as he recounted how good it had been.

As our colleague Leanne said: “This is why we do the job we do!”

Stepping in to save the day

Many of us have been there. There’s an issue in our home, and it always seems to happen at an unhelpful time.

After one of our customers had been let down by another contractor, our Home Group repairs service sprung into action. Within a couple hours, our electrician Reece had the power back on in her kitchen and the family could enjoy a proper home cooked meal.

Another great display of collaboration within the business, and the importance of being 100% customer focused.

Apprenticeship Week

At the beginning of February, the UK celebrated National Apprenticeship Week and Home Group are no different.

Across the business, we’ve been sharing our apprenticeship stories from up and down the country.

Our business is lucky enough to welcome an amazing range of apprentices, from all different backgrounds and experiences, working at all levels from GSCE-equivalent apprenticeships through to specialist, Masters level ones.

We even have a number of customers who are now apprentices within our business, and February was our opportunity to shine a light on them.
