Meet our Director of Scotland, Audrey

Aimee Cavener

Written by Aimee Cavener, marketing advisor

Find out more about Audrey’s plans for her new role. Oh, and she might just have taken part in the longest game of monopoly ever!

What are you most excited about in your new role?

Perhaps a cliché, but I am very much a ‘people person'. Psychometric and profile tests don’t lie! I thrive on meeting new people, making positive connections and brainstorming ideas. I love exploring new and different ways to do things and really thrive on challenging the norm. These values are very much aligned with Home Group, so I am excited to be able to contribute to that.

I'm excited about starting new partnerships with our communities across Scotland. Working together has never been more important.

We need to make sure we work with partners who share our values so that we can achieve more for our communities.

How do you see yourself working with our customers in Scotland?

I want to build on the fantastic work already delivered by the team. I would love to explore new and different ways to engage and strengthen the voices of our customers. We also want to get to know our customers better. This will help to make sure we are delivering services that are easy to access and meet customers' needs.

I will be meeting our customer viewpoint panel, to hear about customer experiences. Understanding what we are good at and any areas where there is room for improvement is key.

Looking at what is important to each community in Scotland is something I am keen to progress. And we'll keep customers at the heart of that process.

What are the priorities in your new role?

In my first three months, I am fully immersed in the ‘getting to know you’ stage. Lots of listening and asking questions, with both colleagues and customers. I want to understand our current strengths and how we can do even better.

With the current cost of living crisis, it is important that we influence the government on the support they are offering. It is also important that we understand what else we can do to support our customers. I want to explore how we make our homes even more energy efficient. I am thinking about how we reduce fuel costs which in turn impacts the environment in a positive way.

Do you have any hobbies?

I spend most of my free time with my family. Either enjoying the outdoors or just chatting (normally with food involved). My son is a bit obsessed with Monopoly currently, our longest game lasted over two weeks!

During the pandemic, I took up a new hobby, open water swimming and paddle boarding. A dip in the freezing cold Scottish water is strangely invigorating. I also tried to re-ignite an old hobby and dusted off my Saxophone. Sadly, my attempt at Gerry Rafferty’s Baker Street lacked finesse!
