Rayners Lane opens as a ‘warm space’ for the public

Recognising that some people may be faced with difficulty warming their homes this winter, a local community site has agreed to open its doors to the public and provide a safe, warm space to relax and socialise.
The Beacon Centre on Scotts Crescent in Rayners Lane will be open between 12 noon and 3pm every Tuesday.
Members of the community are encouraged to visit the Beacon Centre, where there will be warm drinks and refreshments available.
Opening the site is part of a wider warm space initiative being opened by Home Group, one of the UK’s largest housing associations.
Free, warm, welcoming spaces
Abbie Peel, strategy and innovation manager at Home Group, said:
“We have a hard winter ahead of us as a country and it is extremely important that we all play our part to support those struggling.
“We’re really proud to be opening our doors to the public with these warm spaces, and by encouraging a friendly, social environment helps us tackle other common issues at this time of year such as loneliness and isolation at the same time.”
Across the UK, more than 3,000 registered organisations have, or are planning to, open their doors to provide free, warm, welcoming spaces for the public over this winter.
