Hope Haven celebrates latest milestone as King Street hub opens

A key mental health and wellbeing project in the region has officially opened its new building on King Street in Whitehaven.
Hope Haven has been delivering support to people across Whitehaven and the wider Copeland area for around a year and can now welcome people into its new specially designed home in the centre of town.
From Monday, local people will be able to visit the new hub for walk-in support and receive the help they need without the delays of referrals or waiting lists.
The new King Street hub will be open from 9am to midnight for walk-in support every weekday, Monday to Friday, and between 4pm and midnight on weekends.
Hope Haven offers people support on a wide range of things they may be dealing with, from practical physical and mental health support to tackling drug or alcohol addiction, or advice on housing, work, or money problems.
Since December, Hope Haven has been running this type of walk-in support from its temporary home at Senhouse Centre in Whitehaven.
More than 150 local people have been able to get the help they needed since these sessions started at Senhouse Centre.
Hope Haven is a partnership made up of Cumbria Health; Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW); Everyturn Mental Health; Home Group; iCan Wellbeing Group CIO; The WELL Communities CIC and Whitehaven Community Trust.
David Storm, Associate Director for Access and Community Services at CNTW, said: “We are delighted to be moving into our new home on King Street in Whitehaven.
“We have already seen the impact we can have providing local people with this type of support, and our move to King Street will increase what we are able to offer to people across Copeland.
“We are here if you are worried about your (or someone else’s) mental health or mood, need help with physical health and fitness, to tackle drug or alcohol addiction, or if you need advice on housing, work, or money problems.
“So come and talk to us. You’ll get a warm welcome from one of our team, and they’ll listen to you to find out how we can help.
“What makes Hope Haven unique is that if you need more than one type of support, we’ll build that around you – rather than people getting passed between different services.”
