Work to build 17 new affordable homes on a long-empty piece of land in Frizington is to start this month.

Housing association Home Group plans to deliver 17 new two-bedroom homes at Griffin Close, which will help meeting a growing need locally.

The land has stood empty since 2009, having previously been an assisted accommodation care home called Greenvale Court.

The first customers are expected to move into the new homes by summer time next year.

Kerry Dryden, Senior Development and Delivery Manager at Home Group said: “We are delighted to be starting on site at Griffin Close.

“This is land which has sat empty for a long time, and so to be able to bring it back into use to provide affordable housing for local people is really exciting.”
