County-wide outreach service to deliver support for another year

Matt Roberts, PR and media advisor
A highly successful community outreach service in Cornwall has been renewed and will continue to support the most at-risk people in the region.
Home Group’s ‘Empowering Independence’ county outreach service has been making a difference to people across Cornwall for the past six years.
Supporting more than 250 people a year, the service offers a mix of preventative support including drop-in sessions, a community helpline and support focussed on improving independence and self-management of people’s health and wellbeing.
This can include things like support and advice on how to maintain their home and manage domestic tasks, through to assisting with budgeting or accessing employment or education.
The service also runs a dedicated drop-in service specifically for deaf customers.
This latest extension, which will see the service delivered for another 12 months at least, will see the trialling of more intensive, short-term support for those most at-risk.
The service operates across the whole of Cornwall.
Anita Jackson, Operations Manager at Home Group said: “We are delighted to see our community prevention service in Cornwall be renewed for another 12 months.
“We see the difference this service makes to the people we support, helping them to live healthier and more independent lives.
“We look forward to seeing the impact we can make supporting local people in need of that short-term help too, working with them to make sure they retain the stability or independence they need to live safely and happily.”
