What is retrofit?

Retrofit is adding a new or upgraded feature to an existing home to make it more energy efficient. The government has set a target for all social housing homes in England to have an energy performance certificate (EPC) rating of C by 2030.This supports the government target to reach net-zero by 2050.The changes will make your home warmer and save you money on your energy bills. The government is funding the work, so it does not cost you anything.

Here are some examples of the retrofit improvements we could make: 

• External wall insulation 
• Replacing windows and doors  
• Energy saving lighting systems 
• Improving ventilation
• Solar panels 
• Installing an Air source heat pump

• Reduced energy usage 
• Reduced energy bills
• Warmer home
• Better air quality
• Reduced risk of damp and mould
• Improved external look of your home 
• Around £60,000 invested to your home, at no cost to you 
• Increase in your homes energy performance (EPC) rating  
• Reduced carbon footprint

No, retrofit is funded by Home Group and partly by the government via The Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF). The fund aims to improve the energy performance of social homes.

The improvements to your home do not cost you any money.

The government has a target to reach net-zero by 2050. We have aligned our sustainability and net-zero targets with that.

We are in the early stages our retrofit programme which will prioritise homes:  

• In England that have an Energy Performance Certificate rating of D or below 
• In Scotland that have an Energy Performance Certificate rating of C or below
