Retrofit improvements

Find out about the different retrofit improvements we use to make homes more energy efficient.

Retrofit measures are the improvements we make to your home to help it become more energy efficient. For example, installing all of the below:

  • An air source heat pump
  • Triple glazed windows
  • Solar panels
  • External wall insulation

Can save the average home up to £1000 a year on energy bills, depending on property size and energy use.

It may seem obvious but, for some homes, the most effective way of transforming your energy performance may be through several small steps.

This could include things like:

  • Replacing windows and doors
  • Draughtproofing
  • Installing energy saving lighting systems

Read more below on some of the main retrofit measures we may include in a retrofit solution.

Mechanical Ventilation

Mechanical ventilation

This helps airflow around your home with a small amount of energy use, fitted in the kitchen and bathroom. It helps your home to be a healthier and more comfortable environment. The better the air flows, the more energy you can save in your home too.

Render And Solar Panels

External wall insulation

This means installing an insulating layer to the external fabric of a building; a bit like putting on a coat! It minimises heat loss in cold weather and heat gain in warm weather. This is usually then finished with render, which will transform the look of your home too.

Gap between two brick types where cavity wall insulation would go

Cavity wall insulation

This is a two part process, where insulation materials are injected inside the walls. It causes minimum disruption.

Loft Insulation

Loft insulation

A barrier of material in your roof space that traps heat. It is laid either between the joists which are the beams along the floor of your attic.
