How the Home Achievement Programme is helping customers

Steve Heywood

Steve Heywood, media manager

Supporting our customers to improve their knowledge or widen their skills is a key focus for Home Group.

That’s why we created the Home Achievement Programme, a specialist course which helps customers achieve an accredited qualification.

You can complete the programme on your own, in a group or one-to-one with your support worker.

There is a wide range of modules to choose from which are designed to help you learn new skills for employment opportunities or achieve your personal goals.

The main areas of focus are health and wellbeing; employability; social responsibility and promoting independence. Customers work with our specialist team to identify areas of individual need and are supported through the process.

Run for over 10 years, close to 750 customers per year take part in the training programme.

For many of those customers, it can make a big difference to their lives.

Claire* left prison with nowhere to go, no qualifications and poor job prospects. "I was sofa surfing, drinking and taking drugs. Things had to change."

Claire found accommodation with Home Group and signed up for the Home Achievement Programme.

"It really put me on the right path and gave me the urge to learn even more."

“I applied for a Home Group apprenticeship. Now, I've got a great job, I'm back with my son, have a great social network and my own house. My life has changed so much."

*We have changed Claire’s name to protect her identity.
