Ian Drummond

Development Committee, Independent Member. Appointed June 2025.

Ian Drummond

Ian Drummond is Divisional Chair for Taylor Wimpey in Scotland and oversees its East and West Scotland regional businesses, from his office base in Dunfermline.

As Divisional Chair in Scotland, Ian is part of Taylor Wimpey’s Group Management Team (GMT), its most senior management group below the UK Board of Directors, providing senior leadership to the regional business units. The GMT is key to aiding the PLC Board’s decision-making processes, allowing it to take key operational decisions and to enact necessary changes for the business quickly and effectively.

Ian studied Town and Regional Planning at Heriot-Watt University, graduating in 1999. He joined the team at Wimpey Homes, which in time through a series of mergers became Taylor Wimpey UK, in the same year as a graduate. In 2003, he was promoted to development co-ordinator and soon after to the role of Land Manager.

From 2006, Ian moved to work as director of projects at Stirling Developments, also based in Dunfermline, where he played a key role in the delivery of the Calderwood masterplan in East Calder before returning to Taylor Wimpey in September 2013 to head up the west of Scotland land department as Land Director.

Ian’s role was extended in due course to include responsibility for Taylor Wimpey’s Scottish regional strategic land assets. He was responsible for the company’s long-term land projects across the country before promotion to the role of Managing Director for its East Scotland business; a position that he held for 18 months before promotion to Divisional Managing Director in early 2019 and further promotion to his current role as Divisional Chair in Scotland in October 2020.

With home building key to Scotland’s social and economic success, Ian has been a board member of Homes for Scotland for a number of years. He helps this influential industry body which represents 200 member organisations to work closely and constructively with government in relation to planning, policy and technical standards and support its members to deliver high-quality, energy-efficient and sustainable new homes for Scotland.
