Home Group will create 29 new homes in Byram, with work now underway on the £3 million scheme that sits between Selby and Castleford.

The East Acres development will offer a range of one, two, three and four bedroom homes close to the centre of Byram village that will be available for affordable rent.

Will Gardner, Director of Development at Home Group, said: “This site will provide an opportunity for individuals and families to rent a brand new and affordable property, in a highly sought after area.

“Because of the area’s popularity there’s a shortage of available homes and this scheme will help to address that, while allowing us to stay on track with our objective of building 10,000 new homes by 2021."

The site has been designed by Brewster Bye Architects and assisted by Strategic Team Group who are constructing and developing the site.

Mark Henderson, a director at Brewster Bye Architects, said: “We’ve specifically designed this development to provide an extensive range of high quality, affordable homes that will achieve Building for Life standards as well as exceeding the Homes and Communities Agency’s Housing Quality Indicators.

“The whole scheme will feature an open but inward-facing design, with forming courtyards and defined spaces, which will help to foster a sense of community and will make it a great place to live.”

Managing Director at Strategic Team Group, Andrew Watson, added: “This land-led scheme is right on our doorstep and we are delighted to be working in partnership again with Home Group and our framework architects Brewster Bye.

“Not only will the development address local housing needs but it will also create excellent opportunities for employment and skills development in the Selby area.”

The work is being completed on behalf of Home Group, one of the UK’s largest housing providers and a leader in integrated housing, health and care, who will own and manage the properties.

A new access road will lead into the development, with contractors Strategic Team Group expecting work to be completed in June 2018.
