Eastfield town council visit the new Middle Deepdale development

A multi-million pound development of affordable homes on the outskirts of Scarborough has been showcased to community leaders.

Affordable housing provider Home Group has invested £6.2M to create 60 homes at the Middle Deepdale development. The homes have been built by housing and community regeneration specialist Keepmoat.

Members of Eastfield Town Council were shown the new two and three bedroom homes ahead of the first families moving into the new properties.

The homes, which form part of a much larger development on the site, will be occupied by people on local housing waiting lists or those wanting to get a foot onto the housing ladder.

Of the 60 homes, 48 are for rental customers and the remaining 12 available for shared ownership – a method in which people part buy and part rent their home. Shared ownership enables people to work towards outright ownership.

Sophie Round, Home Group delivery manager, said: “We’re delighted people are starting to move into these high quality, modern homes.

“These homes have been designed with high levels of insulation to ensure they are energy efficient and more economical to heat.

“We’ve enjoyed working with Keepmoat and we were proud to show these homes off to local councillors. We’re confident these homes will contribute to the wider community.”

Jonathan Woodhead, contracts manager at Keepmoat, said: “We’re really pleased that members of Eastfield Town Council took the time to visit the Middle Deepdale development to see the much-needed new homes, which will enhance the lives of families in Eastfield, Scarborough and leave a positive impact on the local community.

“We are very proud of the Middle Deepdale development and hope that families moving into these new homes over the coming weeks will be too.”

Cllr Chris Parsons at Eastfield Town Council, said: “We really enjoyed our visit to the new homes, they are well built and very affordable. We look forward to meeting our new residents in the coming months.”
