Rachael Byrne, Executive Director, New Models of Care, Home Group, said: "Fantastic news regarding the detail behind the new funding models for supported housing."

“Fantastic news announced today (October 31) regarding the detail behind the new funding models for supported housing. This gives us the certainty we need to get on and build more homes.

“We are pleased to see the level of engagement that government has had with the sector to ensure that supported housing is funded sustainably in the long-term. Today’s announcement means that we are confident that, despite the two-year delay, new schemes can finally be taken forward with more certainty, meaning vulnerable people will be able to access much-needed services more quickly. The removal of the LHA cap has already allowed us to rubber-stamp a £50m investment in three new supported services.

“We are keen to continue working with government to ensure the sector represents value for money and improved outcomes for customers.

“The three-pronged approach set out today recognises the diversity of the sector and the people it supports. Of particular interest is the proposal to introduce supported housing strategic plans which will encourage joined-up working, and meet the future needs of local communities. It will be great to look at how these plans can further integrate housing, health and care – one of our key strategic priorities.

“We will continue to engage our customers as and when we find out more and all updates will be posted on our website and other customer channels.”
