Home Group staff receive the award

Staff at one of the UK’s largest housing providers are celebrating after winning an award.

Home Group has been recognised by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development for the work it has done in improving how it recruits and rewards employees.

The not-for-profit company, which is headquartered in Newcastle, won the ‘Excellence in Resourcing and Talent Management’ category at the CIPD North East awards.

Becky Robson, Home Group, head of resourcing and development: “We’re delighted that the hard work we’ve done over the last 18 months has been recognised by seasoned industry peers.

“Companies are competing with each other to find the very best talent out there and we have undergone a journey to increase our profile as a great place to work and also increase the tangible benefits of being a Home Group employee.”

The award comes just months after Home Group was named as one of the best places to work in the UK in the Great Place to Work survey. Home Group was named as the 33rd best large employer nationally. It was also the highest placing employer in the north east.

During the last 18 months Home Group has introduced new systems for recruiting which helps managers to customise job adverts, shortlist applicants more quickly and once a job offer has been made speed up the time it takes for someone to join the company.

The housing provider has also improved the benefits it provides to employees with a new online reward system which offers instant discounts to hundreds of high street names.

Becky said: “In addition to all of this we’ve also reached out to new places where we advertise jobs including Facebook and Linkedin. Working at a not-for-profit company can be incredibly rewarding in the sense that we make tangible differences to people’s lives so we’ve also focused on that in our recruitment campaigns.”
