Home Group ranked 17th in Stonewall top 100 employee index

Home group has been ranked the number one housing association in the UK in the Stonewall top 100 employers index.

The index is an annual audit of LGBT+ inclusion by employers across workplaces, services and communities.

Home Group continues to work hard to keep improving its ranking in the index as it firmly believes that every one of its colleagues should feel accepted and encouraged to be themselves, and to be celebrated for that.

In recent years, Home Group has created a range of support networks for LGBT+ colleagues, and set up an allies network which has gone from strength to strength. Its ‘role models’ and ‘Lifeswap’ programmes encourage people to share their stories and to support others to be more knowledgeable about the challenges that LGBT people face in the workplace. And its annual diversity conference brings people together with the aim of celebrating, educating and promoting.

Susan Fulton, Director of People at Home Group, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been placed 17th in the Stonewall top 100 employers index. We’re also very proud to be the highest ranking housing association on the list, as well as ranked number two in the North East, where we have our head office.

“We’ve always recognised the strength that diversity brings to everyone in the Home Group team – we are so proud that our staff’s passion for inclusion, equality and acceptance whether it’s in health, society or as individuals is recognised by this fantastic ranking.”

The Stonewall Workplace Equality Index 2019, now in its fifteenth year, was the largest yet. Spanning diverse sectors from banking to healthcare, education to law and retail to government, the best employers are taking action to help create workplaces and services that, day by day, make a real and tangible difference to the lives of LGBT people. This year, many of our Top 100 Employers have not just led the way within their own organisations, they have also been strong voices campaigning for reform of the Gender Recognition Act, for marriage equality in Northern Ireland, for greater inclusivity in sport and more.
