Eight years of BASS success at Home Group

Following the decision from the Ministry of Justice on the new provider for the Bail Accommodation and Support Service (BASS), below is Home Group’s statement.

Mark Henderson, Chief Executive of Home Group, said: “The Bail Accommodation and Support Service (BASS) has been an important and integral part of Home Group for almost eight years. We began running BASS nationally in 2010 and since then, through the hard work of our colleagues, we’ve shaped it into a highly successful service that has delivered outstanding outcomes for service users and alleviated pressures on the justice system. We’ve supported and changed the lives of over 19,000 service users, providing them with a home, enabling them to remain within and integrate back into the community and working with partners to ensure the most appropriate use of custody.

“Over the past two years we have worked in partnership with the Ministry of Justice to continue to deliver BASS over an extended period whilst the contract for the service has been retendered.

“We have a clear mission for Home Group over the next four years, building homes independence and aspirations. We’ll do this by delivering services that provide long term outcomes for customers. We’ll build design led, homes for life for our customers and will focus on innovative, person centred support. We’re working with partners in health to co-create services that deliver tangible outcomes for customers and realise benefits for the NHS that have a positive impact for all.  As part of this we made a strategic decision in 2017 not to bid for the BASS contract.

“We are delighted that Nacro has been awarded the BASS contract for the next phase of its development and we will work closely for the benefit of service users and our colleagues to transition the service.”
