Scotland tenants and Universal Credit

Universal Credit changes affecting tenants in Scotland

From October 4th 2017 there are new payment choices for people living in Scotland who claim Universal Credit.

If you live in an area where the full Universal Credit service is operating and you are making a new claim you will be offered a choice of whether you are paid monthly or fortnightly.

You can also ask for your rent to be paid directly to your landlord.

This choice of service will be rolled out to existing claimants who started their claim before 4th October in the New Year - January 2018.

Once you make your choice it will be confirmed in your online journal.

This leaflet from the Scottish Government explains the changes.
