Changes to the way North East customers pay water and sewerage charges

Home Group understands that having received our letter, you may have some questions about how these changes will affect you. We have talked to Northumbrian Water who have set out the most popular questions and the answers, to give you a little extra information.

Northumbrian Water will be writing to you during November to provide you with information and guidance on the next steps.

When will I get my bill?

You’ll get your first Northumbrian Water bill in February or March 2019.

When you receive your bill from Northumbrian Water, your charges will be clearly explained so you know how much you will pay for your water and sewerages services from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020.

Why am I getting a bill in February or March 2019?

Northumbrian Water send out their bills before the payments are due, so you know how much you will have to pay.

This means you get your bill for the period of 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020 in February or March, but you won’t need to make any payments until 1 April 2019.

How do I pay my Northumbrian Water bill?

Northumbrian Water will explain all of the different ways you can to pay your bill when they write to you in November.

The quickest and easiest way to pay is by Direct Debit.  Northumbrian Water will let you know how to set this up once they have given you your new account number. 

You can also choose to pay your bill through Northumbrian Water’s automated payment line using a credit or debit card.

Cash payments can be made by payment card at any PayPoint location.

Can I still pay my bill weekly?

Yes you can. You can even pay by weekly direct debit.

How can I find out about water meters and if I can save money if I have one fitted?

If you have a water meter, you only pay for the water you use.

Water meters and installations are usually free and Northumbrian Water will fit them within 90 days of getting your application.

You may be able to save money by having a meter fitted and Northumbrian Water will explain more about water meters when they write to you in November.

What happens to any overdue payments when I become a Northumbrian Water customer?

You will get your new bill from Northumbrian Water in February or March 2019.  You will make payments for this bill to Northumbrian Water from 1 April 2020.

Home Group will continue to collect any money owed from your previous bills.
