How to become a supplier

Applications to become a supplier should only be made in response to a published tender. Value for money is best achieved by competition and all our sourcing is based on this principle.

Please note that Home does not operate any preferred suppliers lists or approved panels.

Procurement in Home

We have a dedicated Procurement team located at Home’s head office in Newcastle and regionally in the North West, North East, Midlands, South, Yorkshire and Scotland. Headed by the Director together with Procurement and Supplier Relationship professionals, the team has saved Home £35m over the last 5 years.

How we work

Transparency

Our Code of Ethics ensures all decisions are open and understandable, based on rational and logical processes with clear and appropriate criteria.

Accountability

Those making the decisions will be held accountable for them.

Continuous Improvement

Partnership arrangements are established with all suppliers and contractors including specific provisions for improving efficiency, performance and customer satisfaction during the life of a contract in relation to cost and quality.

Fair Competition

All decisions must demonstrate fair competition. This applies to the selection of both internal and external suppliers, contractors and partners.

A Diverse and Competitive Supply Market

Accessible procurement opportunities enable Home to promote supplier diversity and encourage dealings with small to medium size enterprises, social enterprises, ethnic minority businesses and voluntary and community sector suppliers.

Customer Involvement

One of Home’s values is Customer Focus. Customers are therefore actively involved in procurement decisions.

Best Value

All decisions are based on best value principles to improve efficiency, effectiveness and economy in the use of customers’ money.

Internal Governance Standards

The Director of Procurement is responsible for Home’s policies and procedures on tenders and quotations. Contained within Home’s Governance Standards are the rules that apply to the procurement of goods, services or works.
