Benwell Hall celebrates 25 years in style

Residents and former residents at  Home’s, Benwell Hall development, in Newcastle, threw a big party in its communal lounge to celebrate the scheme’s 25-year anniversary.

Over 50 people attended the party, which included a number of residents who have lived there since it opened in 1983. Everyone contributed to the buffet and some of the more adventurous came along in fancy dress. Also present was the scheme’s first housing officer, Joan Eversley, who retired from Home in 1994.

Debbie Welsh, Home’s Housing Officer, said: “It was lovely to see so many people come a long to celebrate Benwell Hall’s silver jubilee. Even families who grew up on the estate and have moved away with their own came back to enjoy the party.”
