North Area Client Equality and Diversity Ambassador Pilot

March 2011 Update

What have the REDS done so far?

Our 8 RED Reps have:

  • Agreed their role as RED Reps and what they need in order to do this
  • Explored what diversity means to them using a range of creative, innovative and interactive workshop sessions
  • Discussed the role of assessor and attended assessor skills training
  • Took part in an innovative Life Swap session with colleagues from across the business giving RED Reps the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds, challenge their own beliefs, stereotypes and pre-conceptions
  • Delivered a 2 hour session on equality and diversity for Involving You Steering Group members on 10th February, including a presentation on the REDs
  • Attended our Central Services Equality and Diversity Meeting on 2nd March
  • Delivered an equality and diversity event to colleagues and clients in our Central Region on 18th March 2011

Getting the message out to clients and colleagues

RED Reps co-delivered an all day session on equality and diversity at the Central region Client Involvement Spring Event on 18th March. At this event, RED Reps:

  • Told clients and colleagues about RED, the role of RED Reps and what they've done so far
  • Led workshop groups in exploring the issue of equality and diversity and what it means to them
  • Led a session on assessing clients’ experiences of equality and diversity against RED standards
  • Looked at how we can roll this project out across the organisation

Workshop exercises were interesting and creative and gave clients and colleagues the opportunity to share their experiences of equality and diversity and discuss how they can involve clients in their area.
