Rayners Lane

With over 600 homes, the Rayners Lane estate is the largest affordable housing estate in the London Borough of Harrow. Built in the sixties, the estate had become increasingly run down over time, but Harrow Council did not have the necessary funds for improvement. In January 2001 the council decided to look for a housing association to partner them in carrying out a stock transfer of the estate.

Home was chosen as Harrow’s preferred partner in May 2001 after an in-depth bidding process. From this time Home carried out intensive, detailed consultation with residents, the council and other stakeholders to ensure that the best possible proposals were developed. Door to door visits, exhibitions, drop-ins and regular newsletters ensured that all residents were fully involved with influencing the proposals and all the hard work paid off in March 2002 when the transfer ballot was held. A resounding 76% of tenants voted to transfer to Home with all the regeneration plans that this involved.

Master Plan Review

With all the building activity that is being carried out on the estate, Home felt it was time to take another look at the master plan incorporating the completed buildings.  We need to make sure that we are getting it right and of course to see if there is anything we can improve on.  MEPK Architects are currently carrying out the review.
