If you are interested you must:

  • have a secure or assured tenancy (excludes shorthold assured tenants and long leaseholders).
  • have been a public sector tenant for a minimum of two years (five years for tenancies granted after 18 January 2005).  Previous public sector tenancies can count.
  • occupy an eligible property.

You can’t apply if:

  • you are an undischarged bankrupt
  • have a possession order
  • have an ASBO
  • you live in a designated rural area (population less than 3,000)
  • you live in an adapted property for people who have disabilities, special needs, mental disorders or for rent specifically by elderly persons ie bungalows.

Funds for this scheme are limited and must be used up by the end of March 2009.
