We are a countywide, free and confidential housing support service for people who are at risk of losing their home, or need extra help to maintain their independence.
We provide the service through a partnership of four organisations, Stonham, Moving On, DASH and SHAID, who have an established track record in supporting vulnerable people within the county. Bringing together their knowledge and expertise to help you to find effective solutions that will help you to live independently.
Who do we support?
You can apply for support no matter what housing you may have - for example if you hold a tenancy with a private landlord, the council or a Housing Association or if you are a home owner.
We will provide support to people who are 16 and over, including couples and families.
You might need our help if, for example:
- You have mortgage, rent arrears or debt problems
- You are at risk of becoming homeless
- You are setting up home for the first time
- You are suffering from or are at risk of domestic violence
- You have physical or mental health problems
- You have drug or alcohol problems
- You have recently had a relationship breakdown or bereavement
What do we offer?
- Help to look at what your support needs might be and who can help
- Help with budgeting and debt advice
- Help with benefits and welfare rights, including form filling
- Help to understand your tenancy or mortgage responsibilities
- Help to develop independent living skills, such as how to manage your money or cook a meal
- Help with finding out about and getting in touch with other services in your local community
- Help with settling into your home, for example sorting out your gas/electricity supplier
- Help to speak up for yourself, such as advocacy support
- Help to access training, education and employment
- Help to resolve neighbour disputes
- Help with court proceedings, tribunals or appeal hearings.
We provide a holistic assessment of needs and can put you in touch with other specialist services who can help with:
- Counselling
- Transport
- Personal care
- Cleaning, gardening, shopping and cooking
- Giving you your medication
- Handling your money
How do I refer/apply?

We aim to begin helping a person within 10 working days. At busy times you may have to wait longer and we will keep in touch with you about this.
Priority will be given in this order:
- Someone who is homeless, about to be made homeless or living in temporary accommodation
- Someone moving into unsupported accommodation from supported housing, such as a hostel
- Someone who is at risk of being made homeless
- Someone who is at risk of not maintaining their independence.
