Home Scotland has won Large Housing Association of the Year at the 2009 Scottish Home Awards.

We provide over 3,000 affordable homes for families and individuals across Scotland. Our properties include a mix of houses for rent and shared ownership, ranging from one-bedroom flats to larger houses for families.

We have successfully completed a wide variety of redevelopment projects to provide homes on newly developed sites, for example, on land that was previously used for other purposes. We also manage rented homes that other agencies used to be responsible for.

Our development programme means that we are always working to increase the number of homes we have available for our customers.

What can we do for you?

We are totally committed to social justice. This means that we:

  • believe that everyone should be able to afford the home they want to live in
  • promote equal opportunities in all areas of our work;
    encourage and support tenants to actively get involved in managing their home
  • want to improve the social and economic circumstances of the wider community.

We want people to feel part of their community and have a real say in how things should be done. Residents sit on our board and area committees, and we are working to increase the number of residents' groups to make sure more of our customers have a say in making decisions.

We work to develop successful communities and to deliver a range of high-quality services that meet the needs of all our customers.

Edinburgh House Exchange

The Edinburgh House Exchange website is a new service, designed to bring together tenants who are looking to swap their home.

EdIndex is a partnership made up of 21 Edinburgh landlords, including Home Scotland.  You can register free for the House Exchange service at www.edinburgh.houseexchange.org.uk  even if your tenancy is outside Edinburgh.

When you register you will be asked to provide some details including your current property and the type of property that you are looking for.

Once registered, the information you provided will be checked and approved by Home Scotland.  Your login details will then be sent out in the post and your property will appear in our database.

From there you can search the site and find someone to swap homes with.

Please note that you must be a Scottish Secure Tenant before your request for a mutual exchange will be considered.

For more information please e-mail house.exchange@edinburgh.gov.uk or telephone 0131 529 5080 and ask to speak to an adviser.
